How does the New Jersey Paycheck Calculator work?

Your employer in New Jersey is responsible for deducting FICA taxes and federal income taxes from your paychecks. FICA taxes consist of Medicare and Social Security taxes. Each pay period, your employer will withhold 1.45% of your wages for Medicare taxes and 6.2% for Social Security taxes. It’s important to note that your employer also matches your contributions to Medicare and Social Security, effectively doubling the total payment.

However, if your filing status is single, head of household, or qualifying widow(er), any wages you earn exceeding $200,000 will be subject to a 0.9% Medicare surtax.

Before generating a pay stub, you can also review a check stub template to preview how earnings, deductions, and tax information will appear on the final pay stub.

Important Note: The StubCreator provides a paycheck calculator designed to provide essential guidance. This should not be relied upon to calculate exact taxes, payroll, or other financial data. You should seek a professional accountant regarding any particular requirement.
